Body Acne

Acne is most commonly a problem associated with your face but for many people it can be just as big a problem on other areas of the body such as the back, neck, chest, and buttocks. Like facial acne there is no cure but can be treated and controlled with a good regiment. For the cases that are sever, stronger treatments may be required, so consulting a dermatologist can help with finding out what is right for you.

For treating body acne, many of the same treatments that are available for you face come in a body regiment, such as body cleansers, scrubs, and creams. Try products with sysilic asid and or benzoyl peroxide which are both known to treat acne. It is good to remember that you may have to try a few different products to find one that works well for you, a lot of companies offer samples so you can test a small area before spending the money on something that doesn’t work.

Body acne can become irritated or you can have more frequent breakouts from things your wearing everyday. Try to be aware of things like tight clothes, back packs, purses, tags on your clothing, irritations from undergarment, etc. They tend to irritate acne and acne prone skin causing breakouts and can lead to scaring on your body as well. Just remember that you don’t need to become stressed over what may or may not irritate you skin, just be aware if you get a breakout in the same spot or it worsens, it may be caused by one of those things. Also making sure you have a good sunscreen as well can keep you skin clearer, sun exposure will not clear but worsen acne and dry skin as well as cause other skin problems such as premature aging. Try a sun screen with a high spf and one that is oil free and hyperalogenic.

One area you have to be a little more cautious about acne on the neck. The skin on the neck is very sensitive and can become irritated easily. When starting a new regiment make sure introduce the new products slowly to build up a tolerance to the product. Starting out once every 2 days then once a day, then twice a day as recommended. If you jump right in to the full regiment, you neck may break out more at first causing you to stop treatment till it clears some on its own and try again. So take it slowly and it’ll pay off in the long run.

Body acne, like other acne, can be treated and controlled with time and patience, resulting in beautiful skin all over.

I like to use tea tree oil on back acne. I find it helps reduce the amount of breakouts and helps cleanse my skin. It’s also a lot easier to apply (with a back brush) compared to using acne lotion.
