Lawsuit against Accutane resulting in Boy-Pilot’s Death Ends

One of the many lawsuits against Hoffmann-La Roche Inc, pertaining to there Acne drug Accutane and its connection to suicide, has ended. U.S. District Judge James Moody dismissed the lawsuit Tuesday at the request of lawyers for Julia Bishop and Karen Johnson, the mother and grandmother of Charles Bishop.

Charles Bishop is the boy who flew a stolen Cessna into the Bank of America Plaza, four months after the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, leaving a note sympathetic to Osama bin Laden.

Hoffmann-La Roche Inc made stated during the proceedings that Charles was a troubled young man and his use of Accutane was not to blame for his suicide. They also attacked the grieving family with court papers they filed say the boy’s parents tried to carry out a suicide pact before he was born, and his mother had numerous bouts of depression.

Julia Bishop and Karen Johnson decided to drop the lawsuit saying they were physically and emotionally unable to pursue the claim. This is unfortunate, Hoffmann-La Roche Inc are getting away with the fact that they never made testing for depression a requirement before administrating Accutane. Hopefully with the numerous other lawsuits coming there way, someone will have the strength to stay with it and make them accountable for deciding to over look and play down side effects for the all mighty dollar.

Hoffmann-La Roche Inc disputes the 200+ suicide by Acne sufferers taking Accutane. They may not be directly responsible, however they now say people should be tested prior to taking Accutane, when before there was no requirement for depression testing

Hoffmann-La Roche Inc also is faced with the 400+ bowel related health issues pertaining to Accutane as well. With all this they have to be held accountable for there poor decisions. Until then we can all hope their not sleeping well at night and that what comes around really does go around.
