So I decided to quit usign shampoo several months ago. i don't know if that contributed to my acne going away partially. but anyway my hair got mad oily for like two weeks and now i dont need shampoo anymore and i never have oily hair. It keeps oil off my face and pillow. anyway, i'm a huge proponent for the no-poo movement. as a plus its good for the environment.

Quick question, how did your hair go from very oily to not oily after not using shampoo? I would imagine your hair would just get greasy as anything.

Haha, that makes sense. Does shampoo really affect acne that much?

My derm would warn that overwashing my face would strip my skin and it would react by overproducing sebum to moisturize my skin - maybe shampoo does the same for your scalp?

You should never get shampoo on your face since it's not meant for skin. But as far as the hair thing goes, you can skip shampoo for a few days and just use conditioner. But eventually, you need shampoo as it takes away the dirt. You need to try and keep your hair away from your face. That helps with acne too, especially off the forehead.

Giving up shampoo seems a little extreme and I have never heard of this being done. I find it interesting. Do you think it may just be the type of shampoo you were using that contributed to your acne?

You mean you quit washing your hair completely, just rinsed it with water? Or you use soap instead of shampoo? I knew a woman who only washed her hair once a month, she did take showers but just rinsed it with water, or took baths instead. Her hair wasn't gross or smelly or anything, but it did appear fairly oily. I can't imagine this would help acne as hair tends to fall down and touch the skin and oily hair could excaberate acne.

Wow! I didn't know you could do that lol. I use shampoo a few times a week. Wouldn't your hair get waay too dirty? I mean there are some things that water just doesn't get out...
