Pimples, zits, blemishes, spots...these are all some of the "nicer" terms for acne. Any horror stories about being called some not-so nice things, like pepperoni face?

Oh I certainly had a problem with one particular boy in school who always called me spaz face because when I would get upset, my face would get really red, making the acne look a hundred times worse. Most people just pretend it doesnt exist or down play it and say it isn't that bad, but then in the next breathe say they could never handle it. Luckily I am old enough to surround myself with people who would never say these things. School can certainly be a rough place.

I've never really heard any nicknames. I think it's always worse for you than it is for other people. I complain about my pores, blackheads, and breakouts to my friends and they get mad and say I don't have anything to complain about. Yet when I look in the mirror I see the horribly obvious red marks and flaws! We're all our own worst critic.

Ain't that for sure. We definitely are our worst critics. Ignoring bullies is the best way to get them to leave you alone.

Maybe I didn't get nicknames because I was a girl - but I'd often hear, "Wash your face!" or one kid in my chemistry class who would tell me "They have Dove soap you know". This can be toxic to your self-esteem - if you are already bothered by your appearance it hurts to know others are so bothered by it as well and they feel compelled to comment on it. However, that which does not kill you makes you stronger.
