Default Family/Genetic effect

Does the tendency to develop acne runs in families?

It runs in my family . I wish there was something you can do. But just making sure you have clean skin is all you can do i guess.

Default I don't know

No one in my immediate family has an acne problem. I do not know where I got it from. It was worse when I was heavier weight wise. That was the only thing I could think of. As I got lighter and lost weight it pretty much went away.

It is not to much important your immediate family, but at the other hand it's very important how you take care of your skin, what are you eating, how much water you take per day etc.

If I had to guess I would imagine it's like most health issues: part family genetics, part how you take care of your skin and your body in general, and another part luck. Whatever your personal religious beliefs are aside, as long as we are created through a serious of genetic combinations and mutations, there's always going to be the chance that some people end up in the NBA and some people end up with Acne. Just the sucky way it works.

Smile As my mom would often warn me...

she would encourage me to keep my figure - remembering her youth, by saying, "Even though I had an ugly face, I had a nice figure so boys would still ask me out." Yes, it does run in families.

Default Family and Genetic Effects

It seems to run in my family but to different degrees with each person. My sister had horrible acne and I had a mild case of it. Her daughter has her same skin but her other daughter's skin is crystal clear. Neither one of my parents ever had acne so it's kind of hit or miss.

it seems that with any disease or condition, it somehow runs in families. i can't even think of something that doesn't run in families!
