As an adult, have you found that makeup products are more beneficial with acne or worse? If so, what are you using? I prefer the makeup line of MAC. Have you heard if this is a good product for acne sufferers?

I would recommend neutragena or physicians formula for anyone who has a hard time with makeup and their skin. Bare minerals is also awesome but a bit pricey. Cover Girl has a product similar to it if you'd prefer. Try to stay away from generics. They tend to do the worst with people who suffer from acne.

I have tried the brands from neutrogena (and others) that claim to help with acne and I haven't found anything that even works slightly. That being said, I am left to dealing with and minimizing the redness as much as I can. I use Revlon Colorstay Active. I like it because it is light weight and goes on smoothly and contains 25 SPF. It seems pricey at 10 dollars for a small tube, but each one lasts me about 6 months so it goes a long way. I have found that if you mix it with a little cold cream it can really help with any dry spots (instead of making them look worse). It also helps if you use the little sponge applicators to apply any foundation, makes it look more natural and spreads it easier to it doesn't look cakey. I def stay away from any of those creams that turn into powder types, the ones that come in a compact but aren't just regular powder, those always mess with my face tremdously and look terrible as well.

I like Benefit and Clinique for department store brands. Usually all of those will have a product line that's oil-free or even specific for acne. Problem is the cost.
I like the maybelline mineral concealer, and revlons true match foundation. I occasionally use a pressed powder but I brush it on instead. Using a pad or sponge can lay it on too thick and make your pores stand out more. Also, when using liquid concealer I don't use my fingers because that would transfer oil! |

Being a fossil, I remember way back in the day when women invariably wore some sort of orangey liquid foundation. Made mental note never to do so, and I have a relatively difficult shade of skin to match. But in terms of even color, ease of application and day long wear, I have to say hats off to Bare Minerals. Be sure and have someone at their counter help you pick your shade.

As makeup only conceals acne, it does not cure it! One should carefully wash or purify your face to take away excess oil, and apply a light moisturizing lotion. Moisturizing helps diminish the look of dryness or peeling that sometimes occurs with acne treatments.

I suggest you leave your acne alone. For me it doesn't help at all but even worsen it.

Clinique has a great product line for those with sensitive skin.I have used the acne system for 3 years now and it has helped me dramatically. Their makeup also works well. It helps treat and prevent breakouts. Ask the Clinique lady behind the counter to help you and she will work her magic.

I only use powders - and the translucent one only. I also pick up the little pots of "tints" - like green to offset the redness on your skin, etc. My skin color is tough to match - I once sat at a Clinique counter for almost an hour because the make-up person couldn't figure out my exact shade, even after trying to blend it. I used to use Garden Botanika religiously - but they closed down the mallshops where I live. I've tried Proactive and Neutrogena's foundation cakes, but my skincolor changes from Winter to Summer and I don't have the patience to blend and try to get it right, plus I never liked wearing foundation anyways. Also, I got tired of ordering products online to find they weren't a good fit at home.
