Default Longtime Sufferer

I suffered with acne from 15-18 in my teenage years and 18-23 in my adult years. Acne is supposed to be a common problem among teenagers, right? Well most of the kids at my high school actually had fairly clear skin, making me feel like an outsider. And to still have bad acne into my adulthood...I questioned if something was wrong with my biology because now it was even RARER to see anyone else with pimples.

The bad thing about suffering with it as an adult is that several other adults have approached me - strangers like the cashiers in a checkout line - and recommended products to me, which I found to be highly offensive. Offensive because obviously I am already aware of my situation and can take care of myself, and if I saw a random fat person, I would not recommend a diet pill to them, y'know? I had made peace with my cursed face at this point and saw beyond the superficiality of it, and for people I don't know to act like there's something wrong with me was not cool.

Oh, I hear ya. I am the same, but am now in my 40's. I have tried everything, including scrubbing my poor face off. I do believe that diet, exercise and stress are all contributing factors, however. The best regimen is better eating, no fatty, greasy foods, lots of exercise, fresh air and no stress... No stress.. that is funny!!

My mom had clear skin all through her teens but now that she's in her 40's she finds herself breaking out more. Seems a little weird huh?

Actually I have heard that menopause can cause acne because of the fluxuating hormones, perhaps she is going through the early stages.

As for random adults, god I have been there and I also find it highly offensive. Espeically when they recommend some prodcut their preteen uses, like I am the same person or something. Obviously I am no longer a teenager and those products didn't work for me or I wouldn't have acne.

I think people have the best of intentions but it is really hurtful and makes you realize just how much people notice your acne. It takes away the hope that people aren't noticing it and are noticing you for a change.

I've had acne as long as I can remember. Now that I'm in college, I feel like I should have grown out of this by now! So, I guess since it wasn't just a "puberty" thing, it will be an issue I'll have to deal with forever! Sigh...

Default pressure level

Acne breakouts can be worsened by sunburns, which is harmful to your skin. Using a water-based sun block aids to defend from burns while keeping pores clog-free. There is not much you can do to alter your hormone levels, but you can control your pressure level, to a certain degree, and perform healthy acne skin care to avoid acne breakouts

Have you ever considered accutane? I know you said how you hate random people recommending products to you but this is the internet and this forum is about acne. All I can say is accutane worked wonders for me.

Even i am using Accutane from last six months and it works fantastic, It solved my persistent acne problem completely. I have not had any acne other than maybe one or two minor spots. Just try it ..... it works....

I have no experience like your but i smpathizewith you cause i know what you feel. I have a brother who suffers from severe acne. Even now at the age of 48 you can see the scars on his face. They say that acne rans in the family but still i am not sure of that. But i do believe that stress is a cotributing factor. So i say stress free life will help a lot but who gets stress free life this days? that is the big problem.
