Default Oral antibiotics

Oral antibiotics used to treat acne include erythromycin or one of the tetracycline antibiotics (tetracycline, the better absorbed oxytetracycline, or one of the once daily doxycycline, minocycline, or lymecycline). Trimethoprim is also sometimes used. But acne was observed to return after few weeks. Depends on individuals. But you can try it.

I have not tried any over the counter medecines because it is not that severe but i suggest for those who suffer from severe acne, they should visit their dermatologist and ask what is the best treatment for them.

Default acne

My friend has very severe acne and he has tried every product under the sun: Proactive, witch hazel..... the list goes on. He finally went to the dermatologist and they gave him Accutane. They want him to come back every month for testing. I think it is a lot to go through.

I remember needing a prescription for both doxycycline and minocycline back when I used them. Has that changed? What's the difference between them anyways?

I tried oral antibiotics when I was younger and had more severe acne. It didn't really help. You don't want to be on antibiotics too much if you can help it, but as a last resort and at a dermatologist recommendation I think it helps some people.

It's definitely a lot to go through, but did it work for him? What kind of results has he had so far? As far as having to go back every month, this is done just incase the doctor isn't seeing the results he/she wants to see. In that case, they adjust the dosage.
