Default My new regimen!

So, I just went to the dermatologist yesterday. Completely new doctor, and she prescribed this regimen:

Minocycline pills once a day
Rosula face wash
Apply a good moisturizer
Apply a pea sized amount of Tazorac.

This seems pretty thorough and I'm hoping it works. Previously, my other dermatologist had me on this regimen:

2% Salicylic acid face wash
Moisturizer
Small amount of Ziana
Pumpkin clarifying mask once a week or as needed.

not sure if the results were that great.. but the pumpkin mask smelled delicious and tingled!

I am not going to a dermatologiest... minicycline would be an antibiotic? what is in the rosula and tazorac? It would be nice to know because we could all try generic versions if they exist.

I had some great luck with minocycline, but I had to take a huge dose of it. It is fairly expensive , but it worked so much better than tetracycline for me. Good luck with your new routine!

Default Minocycline, YES!

I have been taking it for several years now. Does anyone else notice that when you stop, your skin becomes rough and dry? And it does not matter if you lay on lots of moisturizers-still rough, just less dry. Let me know.

Default Rosula face wash

I saw in an earlier post a mention of this product. Is it over the counter or RX only? Since I also have rosacea, I thought it might be something that could help. Thanks very much!

All of those treatments require a prescription. I'm not 100% sure about rosula, but I think it does as well.

A helpful tip my doctor told me-- make sure you tell them ALL the treatments you've been on in the past. A lot of times insurance companies are reluctant to pay for a new medication that might be expensive, and will recommend a generic or different version. To counter this, your doctor can provide the medical history that shows that you've already tried everything and the prescription they wrote is medically necessary!

Default Is it an antibiotic?

I always have my doubts in using antibiotics. Is it safe and what happens if we stop taking inbetween. Does it worsen the situation. Can anyone suggest a simple and less expensive treatment.

Default The first doctor's salicylic acid recommendation

If the salicylic acid is in your cleanser, toner and moisturizer, it would work much better. A combination of products with it in kills the most acne for me. It is much better than benzoyl peroxide anyhow. I take no internal medication for acne at all. Also, make sure to wash your face well with soap and water before using these products--it will help. However, sometimes experimentation must be done to find a proper product. A prescription topical like Cleocin-T might be very good as well. If you have a form of insurance and ask for the generic version, you can usually get it for under $20.00.
