The reason the acne spreads is that once we get acne, we keep touching and meddling with that making it more worse. If you pick, squeeze or pinch blemishes, you risk developing acne scars. Dont rub or touch blemishes. Be gentle while cleaning. Hard scrubbing will only make your skin condition worse. Gently wash your skin with a mild cleanser in the morning, at bedtime and after heavy exercises. Avoid rough scrubs or pads. After you wash your skin, rinse it thoroughly.

You are right. That is the best thing to do "leave it alone" so it won't get worst or inflamed. That is the thing that you should avoid inflaming it. That would certainly leave a scar in the face.

It is true: If you touch it, it spreads. Wash your face with acne solutions such as Proactive or Clinique. If you have a problem looking at it, put on some makeup to cover it. It iwll be gone in a few days.

I agree that you should leave it alone. I wash my face and gently apply medicines to help prevent it, but otherwise I don't pinch it or anything. In my experience, touching it too much just makes it worse.

I used to pick at my bumps when I was younger. I quickly learned not to from the scars I were getting, & I stopped soon after. The scars made me feel uglier than the bumps did. xD

Just curious, how do you deal with painfully swelled bumps on the face then? I usually don't bother with the normal stuff, but when I get a huge swelling lump that hurts, I always squeeze it. I find if it is then medicated soon after and a scar healing treatment is used, it has less of a chance to form a scar. They hurt so bad it's hard not to pop them. I suppose if I could find something strong enough to reduce the pain and bumps I would use that instead I just wonder if anyone has suggestions on how to deal with the most painful acne?

Actually, you can get make-up that has acne medication in it. Cover Girl clean has Noxema ingredients that result in less acne and Neutrogena has make-up that contains salicylic acid. What you need to do to cause less acne from make-up is clean it off regularly and properly as to not clog the pores. If you use astringent and/or toner, make sure these are actually medicated. These alone are so deep cleaning, you likely won't need make-up remover, just remember to wash the face first.
